About the Project

KHAI_Flat — we were given a standard 18 m² space with a window opposite the entrance. The brief was also quite typical: to create a living area for relaxing and hosting guests, with the option for them to stay overnight, and a bedroom with a full-size bed. Situations like this are common, so our task was to combine everything thoughtfully and make it work visually.

With so many functions and a clear request to keep as much free space and air as possible, we relied on mobility and transformation. We referred to this approach as “clever functionalism” — a method that emerged during the design process.

The bed, designed as a compact cube, becomes the key element that organises the space, allowing different scenarios without overcrowding it.

A layered use of materials gives the interior a certain softness and atmosphere. This reflects the character of the clients — active and versatile, but also drawn to quiet moments with a book, a film, or conversation.

Textile wall panels bring a sense of calm, while a metal 3D panel adds depth and a slightly futuristic note. Bouclé introduces a softer, more tactile layer, while the cubic bed — a stable and grounded form — anchors the space.
