About the Project
Yaffo is an Israeli café located on one of Saratov’s busiest streets — Stolypin Avenue — in the courtyard of a historic building. The space previously housed a pawnshop, which became the starting point for the project.
This helped shape the atmosphere of the hummus bar — inspired by the feeling of an Israeli market. To achieve this, we removed all later additions, exposed the original walls and ceilings, and introduced a few contemporary elements.
The space is organised as a single room without complex zoning.
The main functions — seating and the bar — are immediately visible. Everything is kept simple and clear, allowing the space to feel open and active.
The project is based on working with the existing architecture.
Original surfaces form the main backdrop, while contemporary elements are added carefully. The result is a space that feels simple, slightly raw, and close in spirit to a street market.
