About the Project

Patis is an urban café located in the very centre of Saratov, well known for its early opening hours, service, and atmosphere. The project is set within a historic building.

The space is organised across two levels, allowing for a clear distribution of functions and adding spatial dynamics. The staircase becomes the central element of the project, acting as a spine that connects and divides the interior into two zones.

The ground floor responds to the active pace of the city and shorter visits, while the upper level offers a more спокойный environment for longer stays. The original layout of the historic building is preserved and emphasised, with transitions between zones remaining intuitive and comfortable.

The project is based on a careful approach to working within a historic structure. As the café is located in a listed building, the intention was to preserve its character while integrating a contemporary function.

The interior concept relies on natural materials such as wood, marble, and a restrained, earthy palette. These elements support the existing architecture and create a cohesive environment without stylisation or decorative excess.

Patis is conceived as an urban café with a clear structure and a calm visual language, where the interior supports a comfortable experience throughout the day.
