About the Project
In 2025, our team took part in the All-Russian architectural festival BIF 2025, presenting a stand conceived not simply as an exhibition space, but as a complete architectural statement.
The project is structured around contrasts: black timber and cold metal, soft carpet and reflective surfaces. These materials are not opposed to one another, but operate as a system of coordinates. In the absence of people, they remain a composition of elements. With the presence of a silhouette, a step, a voice, or movement, the space comes alive — it begins to respond, to shift, and to acquire meaning. Architecture starts to “breathe” only in relation to the human presence.
A luminous ceiling introduces a visual break in the perceived boundaries of the volume, suggesting a continuation of space beyond its physical limits. It reflects the way perception defines spatial boundaries — expanding or constraining them. It is the human gaze that brings depth, emotion, and narrative into the interior. Architecture becomes infinite only through interaction with those who experience it.
Mirrored plinths act as mediators between the environment and the individual. Rather than simply reflecting the interior, they register presence — fragments of silhouettes, gestures, and glances. Within them, the space is continuously reassembled, taking on a distinct and individual character.
Concept
The installation articulates a central idea: architecture begins with the human and ultimately returns to it. It is created for people, exists alongside them, and is fully realised only through their presence. This principle underpins not only the exhibition stand, but the broader approach of the studio, where the human remains the measure, the centre, and the meaning of architecture.
